MamaSource

So I've got a link to it on the right, but I thought I should explain it a little. It's a website for moms to go to vent, ask questions, and simply get away from their daily life. You can post a question and others can respond to it and give you their ideas. It's basically anonymous, as it's only your first name and last initial. You can also respond to other's questions, and offer your own words of wisdom. It's a great way to get involved in your community, without ever having to leave your house....or something like that. You can invite friends to join from your local area, or as far away as Zimbabwe. It's a global gathering of women who are seeking help with their families, and trying to connect with other moms.
I love it!
Just go to http://www.mamasource.com, and you're on your way to a whole community of moms who are willing to help you.

Way cool crafty lady!

Okay, so I'm checking on my friends' blogs, going to bloglines and looking up stuff, and I come across this girl's blog, and she has the cutest - and pretty simple - craft ideas! I couldn't resist giving her a plug and linking to her site. I don't know that I'd ever be talented enough to accomplish most of this (a sewing machine would help), but they're still great ideas! Korbi and Bethany will probably love it!

Building Temples

So today after church, Patrick had a list of things for us to do, which we thought were great:

1 - Play Uno as a family

2 - Watch a "church" movie

3 - Build a temple with Legos

4 - Eat ice cream

So this picture is the product of #3, building a temple, and it's pretty good! It even has an "angel Moroni" on top.....sort of.

Yard Work

So we moved in almost a year now, but we worked hard, like everyone else, getting our yard put together. Here are some pictures of the work being done on our yard. Many thanks to those who helped us pour cement and lay sod!

Turkey (Chicken) Run!!!

So for Thanksgiving last year (2007), I got this hair-brained idea that it would be great fun to have the kids chase turkeys around and try to catch them. Since we didn't know anyone who had turkeys on their farm, I decided to call someone who had chickens, and it would be just as fun. And it was! It was hilarious! We went with the Kolste's, and our kids had a blast running around the yard trying to catch those stinking chickens. Thank you Jane Payne!!!! We look forward to next year.

Jacob's baptism

So I haven't really been into this for a while, but I thought I should post some pics from Jacob's baptism. It was a great day, and we're so glad to have had both sets of our parents there for it! Jacob was excited, but nervous, and it was such a great experience as a mom to see my child make that choice! (cry, cry, sniffle, sniffle)

Trying on Daddy's shoes

I have to say, of all our kids, Dean is the most fascinated with our shoes. He's so cute when he tries them on and clomps around the house....

I know I have more pictures, but I can't find them right now. Too cute!

Love the new do!

So Jenica is my hero, and cut (and colored) my hair to look so cute!

So I'm folding laundry, singing along to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Doane takes a picture of me, and then himself, because he's not sure about the new do.....just kidding. As long as I'm happy, he's happy, which is how it should be!

More Christmas pics of our goodies.....look what mommy got....my sister-in-law is awesome!...look what Jacob got....look what Patrick got....look what Dean got....

Here are some fun pictures we took at Christmas, with our "borrowed" camera. That will be the next thing we have to buy, is a new camera. Doane has "misplaced" our relatively new one, so we're missing a LOT of pictures!
There's the traditional cookies and milk for santa....creche, christmas and patriotic - my favorite!....the north pole all quiet, then lit up at night.

Welcome to the Mardis Family blog. Okay, so I got talked into Myspace, and now blogging. I'm such a sucker! But I hope that my kids can look back on this one day and enjoy it. I just don't know how dedicated I'll be at this. But PLEASE post comments, and let me know what you think!
